Bernard H. Bruening, 87, of Milladore entered eternal life on Monday, August 8, 2011. His final wish was fulfilled by passing away in the home where he was born. He was under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. He was born in Milladore on January 24, 1924, the son of William and Mary (Lauscher) Bruening. He married Gertrude M. Woods on October 5, 1957, in St. Marys Catholic Church in Appleton, WI. Bernard spent all his life working his beloved dairy farm. He was an active member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church serving on the parish council and usher. He served on the town board both as an assessor and supervisor. In his earlier years, he served as Board Clerk for Stepping Stone School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #4646 as well as on the ASCS board. In his retirement, he enjoyed baking cookies, doughnuts, and kolaches for his family, friends and neighbors. He especially enjoyed baking cookies for his grandchildren. Bernard is survived by his wife, Gertrude, his son, William (Jennifer) Bruening of Mosinee, his daughters, Mary (Darnell) Tyjeski of Wisconsin Rapids and Anne (Joseph) Levendoski of New Berlin. He is further survived by his eight grandchildren, Justin (Rebecca), Abby, Ben, and Megan Tyjeski, Robert and Meghan Bruening, as well as Catherine and Claire Levendoski, he is further survived by his twin sister, Bernadine Kelnhofer of Wisconsin Rapids. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 13 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore with the Rev. Paul Gitter, his nephew, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Milladore. Friends may call Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milladore and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Knights of Columbus of Junction City #4646 rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. at the church. The visitations are being held at the church due to the road construction.
