Benita "Nita" was born on August 19, 1932, in Milladore to Joseph and Theresa (Moscinski) Konopa. In her typical joking style, she said she was born at home in an apartment above a store in Milladore because she wanted to be near her mother. The family lived in Arpin, WI, until she was 10 years old, and then moved to Marshfield. She attended Saint John's School through the 10th grade and graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1950.

Nita married Wilfrid "Willie" Diers on June 24, 1953, and they enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage before his death. Nita worked at St. Joseph's Hospital for 21 years, initially as a unit clerk and later as a medical transcriptionist. She was known for her skill in knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and other crafts, with her specialty being "owl" baby sweaters.

Nita is survived by her children Marylee (Dan) Jacobitz, Ray (Marge) Diers, Julie (Jeff) Graves, Jan (Pete) Hansen, Sue (Nate) Hastings, and Connie (Kirk Kamke ) Diers, as well as her grandchildren Ryan Diers, Josh Diers, Ben Diers, Brittany Graves, Nick Graves, Justin Hansen, Melissa Steiner, Ashley Hastings, and Kaleena Frankulin . She is also survived by her many great-grandchildren, her sister Ethel Konopa, and her sister-in-law Phyllis Konopa.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Theresa Konopa, her stepmother Josephine Konopa, her siblings Edward and Angeline Konopa, her husband Willie Diers, and their stillborn son Joseph Diers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Safe Haven for treating Nita with respect, compassion, and integrity during her stay with them, especially over her final days.
