Obituary

Barbara Mary Godard 94 of Marshfield was called home to heaven surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Private memorial services were held with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Barbara was born on October 8, 1918 in Marshfield, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Jungwirth) Reigel and attended school in Marshfield. After the death of her mother Mary in 1925, she was blessed with another mother, Beryl in 1928. She was united in marriage to Phillip J. Godard on September 24, 1935 at Corpus Christ Catholic Church in Bakerville. He died on May 24, 1993. She was a homemaker until 1959 at which time she became employed at St. Joseph's Hospital while continuing loving care for her family, retiring in 1985. She cared for her husband until his death, then did volunteer work for the elderly. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Barbara will be sadly missed by her family, friends and anyone who had the privilege to know her. She lived her life through giving. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Frerichs of Swansea, IL; Lori (William) Shookman Sr. of Lowgap, NC; Carrie (Joe) Degner of Menasha; JoAnn (Kirk) Rumsey of Marshfield; four sons, Walter (Alice) Godard of Kohl, WI; Victor (Linda) Godard of Sheboygan; Arthur (Linda) Godard of Hauchuca City, AZ; and Edwin (Debbie) Godard of Milstadt, IL; 36 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 20 great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Art Reigel of Marshfield; Joseph (Gloria) Reigel of Eau Claire; Victor Reigel of Marshfield; Dale (Al) Beckman of Milwaukee; Hubert Reigel of Marshfield and two sisters-in-law Sylvia Reigel of Marshfield and Bettie Reigel of Rice Lake. Besides her parents and husband Phillip, she was preceded in death by two sons, Richard on December 22, 1997, John on July 31, 1984, son-in-law William Frerichs, Sr. on January 26, 2007, granddaughter-in-law Christine Post on December 11, 2008, two brothers, Harold and Paul Reigel, a sister Marie Tessardri, 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Reigel, LaVonne Reigel, and Bea Reigel and a brother-in-law, Guy Tessadri. Memorials may be designated to Tiny Tigers / Companion Day Services or Ministry Home Hospice. Gone is a mother, grandmother & friend, loved by all. Her soul is now at rest. She'll sleep in peace, her work is done. She'll know the joy of perfect rest in Heaven above, where she may dwell contently protected by God's love.
