Obituary

Audrey R. Meyer, 93, Marshfield, died on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Three Oaks Health Services, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt, with Father Angi officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation 4-7pm Friday at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield, and from 9:30am until time of service Saturday at the church.

Audrey was born on May 4, 1933, in Unity, to A.E. (Brownie) and Agnes (Sauter) Messer. She was a graduate of Spencer High School. She married Herbert Meyer on May 26, 1954, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer, and they were together for 65 years before Herbert’s death in 2019. Audrey was a loving wife and mother to her 6 children. She loved spending time at the cabin in Phillips, Wisconsin, knitting, crocheting, doing counted cross-stitch, playing sheepshead with her card club for over 50 years, and was an avid sports fan, particularly the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame and the Milwaukee Brewers. Most of all she loved cooking and baking for her family. She tweaked every recipe to make it taste great.

She was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt. She was a member of the PCCW at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church and the Lady Knights of Columbus in Marshfield and spent many years waiting on tables at events at the KC Hall. She worked as a teller at Spencer State Bank before her marriage and later after her children were all in school, went back to work at Marshfield High School as a teacher assistant in the Math Resource Center for 23 years until her retirement in 1998.

She is survived by her children, Janet Meyer, Marshfield; Dr. James Meyer, Marshfield; Karen (Scott) Freeberg, White Bear Lake, St. Paul, MN; Kenneth Meyer, Marshfield; Robert (Sarah) Meyer, Marshfield; and Rebecca (Paul) Kizewski, Mosinee; five grandchildren, Amy Freeberg, Woodbury, MN; Hannah (Tony) Hallgren, Medford; Andrew (Joel Schram) Meyer, Scottsdale, AZ; Matthew Meyer, Chippewa Falls; and Aaron (Polly) Langfoss, Spencer and great-grandsons Ian & Isaac Hallgren.

She is further survived by sister-in-law, Donna (Ernest) Messer. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Lori Meyer, sister, Mary Ann Endreas, brother, Ernest Messer, brothers-in-law, Robert Endreas, Norbert Meyer, Harold Meyer and sisters-in-law Dorothy Meyer and Donna Meyer Frane.

Memorials will be designated in Audrey’s name to the Marshfield Medical Research Foundation. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Three Oaks Health Services for their kind and loving care over the past 8 years and Heartland Hospice for their care and comfort during her final days.
