Smith
May 21, 1931 – April 2, 2025
Arthur E. Smith, 93, Marshfield, formerly of Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Father Nathan and Msgr I. John Robert will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Arthur was born on May 21, 1931 in Marshfield to Arthur and Ruth (Laughlin) Smith.
He grew up in Pittsville and was a lifelong resident there. After graduating High School he attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA and studied Liberal Arts. He went on to teach History and English at the High School level.
Later in life, Arthur was a devoted and caring son to his mother Ruth for many years. They were seen quite often together.
Arthur maintained good physical fitness well into his late 80's by religiously walking the steep hill in Marshfield near the clinic on a daily basis.
He had a passion to read many books on philosophy and history. He also had a great love for reading and quoting Shakespeare.
In addition, he never let a day go by without enjoying a fine cigar!
Arthur left behind good friends in Pittsville and at Wells Assisted Living in Marshfield. He will be greatly missed by his nephew Mike and wife Kris.
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good- night, sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."
-William Shakespeare
