Arnold J. "Arnie" Laessig, 63 of Stratford died on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at University Hospital in Madison. Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday at the Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, 901 South Weber Avenue, Stratford with Rev. Donald Berry officiating. Following the services, military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the VFW Post # 6352 of Stratford. Visitations will be from 1pm Tuesday until time of service at the Sauter/Rembs Funeral in Stratford. Arnie was born on May 6, 1948 in Stratford to Earl and Jennie (Kohl) Laessig where he graduated from Stratford High School in 1966. He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War serving from June 13, 1966 until his honorable discharge on May 22 , 1969. After his military service, he attended University of Wisconsin Steven Point where he graduated. He then was employed at Arpin Dairy as an electrical maintenance man until they closed the plant. Arnie then went to work in maintenance at Abbyland Foods, Inc. until his retirement in February 2011. Arnie was united in marriage to Ardis A. Hubbell on June 4, 1984 in Stratford. He is survived by his wife Ardis, three sons, Ryan (Jenny) Cook of Eau Claire, Brent Laessig of Stratford and Kyle (Rebecca) Laessig of Monterey, Ca. four brothers, Tim (Joan) Laessig, Larry (Marge) Laessig, Marty Laessig and Steve (Noreen) Laessig all of Stratford; seven sisters, Joyce Pai of Carmichael, CA, Phyllis (Maynard) Doll of Marshfield, Sylvia Pangborn of Racine, Margaret Nelson of Marshfield, Caroline (Jerry) Pretsch of Stratford, Barbara LeFleur of Racine, and Janice (Norbert) Lee of Stratford. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Neil and Jerry Laessig, an infant sister Joan Laessig and a granddaughter, Madeline Mary Cook.
