Arlene B. Mancl, 95 years old, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her children on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Saint Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview, MN. Arlene was a current resident of St. Paul MN, formerly of both Milladore and Stevens Point, WI.
Arlene was born on October 29, 1920 in Spencer WI to William and Clara Gauger. She graduated from Marathon County Normal School in 1940, and soon began her teaching career in the one room elementary schools. She later earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Arlene married Ernest J. Mancl on September 7, 1944 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield.
In addition to teaching and raising children, Arlene and her husband farmed in the Town of Milladore until 1977 when they moved to Stevens Point. Arlene loved to teach, can fruits and vegetables that she grew in her own garden, was involved as a 4-H leader, and actually truly enjoyed milking the cows. In Stevens Point, Arlene and Ernie owned, operated and managed student rental property. They also helped their oldest daughter out with property management and maintenance. Arlene shined as Ernie's "right hand man". They were such a cute couple, the students loved them both. Arlene was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. She also volunteered at the Portage County Lincoln Center, working in the kitchen that prepared and served meals to local senior citizens, many whom were much younger than she. She never thought of herself as old.
Arlene had a gift for life. She was always positive, supportive, gracious and kind. She was known by all for her never ending smile.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Beverly Mancl of Stevens Point WI, Joann (Dale) Statsman of White Bear Lake, MN, Lori (Brian) Milbrandt of Minneapolis MN, and two sons; Bernard (Joan) Mancl of Hastings, MN, and Dennis (Gail) Mancl of Bluff City, TN, 11 grandchildren, 1 granddog, 10 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren along with many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara Gauger, her husband Ernest Mancl, and her brother Alvin Gauger.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually. A special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Keystone of Roseville, Gentiva, Regions Hospital, St. Croix Hospice, and Saint Therese at St. Odilia. Your ongoing support and caregiving has made a world of difference to mom and to our family. We appreciate all you do very much.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, 124 Main St Junction City, WI. The family will receive relatives and friends for two hours before service time.
This Obituary is written by her family, in honor of our dearest Mother. It is a tribute to her memory, which will be carried on in the legacy of love which now is in each of us - the lives she formed and touched by her love.
