Our dear mother, Arlene R. Kroening, 79, Edgar, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran (High Steeple) Church, W1145 Huckleberry Street, Edgar (Town of Wien). Rev. Jeffrey Lambrecht will officiate and June Krebsbach will be organist for congregational singing. Burial will take place in the church cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Mitchell and Lucas Fromm, nephews Alan Konop, and Dennis Hein. The visitation will be held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Arlene was the ninth of ten children born to Paul and Lydia (Krause) Greening on July 31, 1933 in (Unity) the Township of Brighton, Marathon County. She attended Unity Grade School, Brighton Country School, Sawyer Country School and Spencer Public Schools. Before her marriage she was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield. She was united in marriage to Maurice L. Kroening on May 7, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spencer. Dad joined our Lord on March 18, 1990. After their marriage the Kroenings farmed in the Town of Wien until 1989. Arlene was a very hard working farm wife and mother, always willing to help her children , grandchildren and any one in need. Arlene was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed quilting at church. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, reading, and playing board games. Most important were her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Paul (Rachel) Kroening of Fishers, IN, Pamela Fromm of Marathon, Peggy (Bruce) Pankratz of Auburndale and Peter (Lisa) Kroening of Athens. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Audrey (Joe) Frank, Matthew (fiancé – Miranda) Kroening, Mitchell and Lucas Fromm, Elizabeth, Emily, James and Rachel Pankratz, and Amber and Katherine Kroening. She is further survived by her sisters, Evie Lynn, Eleanor Coop, Anita Hein, Dorothy Konop, and Beverly (Don) Sleeter, a brother-in-law, Keith Donovan and a sister-in-law, Aggie Greening. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and siblings, Adeline Seefeldt, Marvin Greening, Irmegard Best and Lois "Jeanne" Donovan.
