Obituary

Arlan A. Ferch, 89, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center. Arlan was born on November 29, 1932 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Arnold and Erna (Kemnitz) Ferch. He was a graduate of Ripon High School and Madison Business College. He married Priscilla M. Wicks on September 20, 1953 in Princeton, Wisconsin. Arlan was employed as an accountant on Sept 15, 1953 for Robert W. Klinner & Associates. He became part of the Hawkins Ash family on December 1, 1978 when the Klinner Tax and Accounting was acquired by the firm. He retired from Hawkins Ash CPAs LLP on Sept 15, 2018 after 65 years. His title was Senior Tax Manager. Arlan was a man of deep faith and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was also a long time member of the Marshfield Kiwanis Club and Wildwood Zoological Society. He served as Senior Member Counselor, Past Grand Counselor, and Treasurer of United Commercial Travelers, and was an active member of the Red Coat Ambassadors for the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was honored for his civic service by the City of Marshfield on September 20, 2018 with the Mayor's proclamation of it to be named Arlan Ferch Day. He was very active in and one of the oldest members of the Marshfield Curling Club, curling since 1981. He enjoyed the sport with his fellow members and family, and continued to support youth curling in Marshfield. Arlan lived his life to the fullest and had passions for traveling, fishing, sailing, music, theater and the arts, both live performance and recordings, and enjoyed many trips to New York Broadway shows. He was an avid sports fan, following the Badgers, Packers, Bucks, and Brewers. He is also remembered through his love of cars. His collection was displayed at Hub City Days in Marshfield, including his father's 1964 Chevrolet Impala that he treasured. Arlan was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was grateful for time spent with colleagues, friends, and family, and proud to be of service to the businesses, firms, arts and the ongoing development of Marshfield, a city he was proud to call his home. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla, and their children, Sandra (Robbie) Clement of Cambridge, WI, David Ferch (Becky Briggs) and Sue (Peter) Deakman, all of Madison, WI, Cindy (Wally) Rogers of Westmore, VT, Lucretia (Peter Taafe) Ferch of Bremerton, WA, Yvonne (Donald) Halfmann of Columbus, WI, Daniel (Lisa) Ferch of Marshfield, WI and Heidi (Michael) Kastern of Waukesha WI. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Arlan set an example to all with his community service and was dedicated to his family. He was well loved and will be missed. A memorial service for immediate family will be held at Rembs Funeral Home Saturday, July 30, 2022 . Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. The service will be live streamed at 10:00 am www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield with Rev. Andrew Belt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his name to the Wildwood Park Zoological Society.
