IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ardean
Young
November 28, 1934 – June 27, 2023
On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Ardean Young passed away peacefully at home in Marshfield at the age of 88. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
The former Ardean Phyllis Sward, the youngest of five children, was born November 28, 1934 in Plover, WI to Kenneth and Martha(Langton) Sward. Ardean moved with her family to Marshfield in 1943 and graduated from Marshfield High in 1952. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Marshfield School District Superintendent in the Purdy Building.
Ardean married the love of her life, Gerald(Jerry) Young at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield on September 28, 1957 and loved to say that she would always be young. They were happily married for over 65 years and raised three daughters. Following Jerry's career path, they lived in most of the Midwest states and the state of Washington. Ardean was a talented medical transcriptionist in hospitals and clinics where they lived. They enjoyed spending their retirement in Texas, Arkansas, Arizona and Florida before returning to live in Wisconsin. Ardean enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, gardening and solving puzzles. Above all, she was a loving mother and took pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Ardean particularly loved attending the various activities and special moments that come with being a grandma.
Ardean will be dearly missed by her daughters Kathryn (Chris Jahnke)Young of New Carlisle, IN, Lori(James) Brady of Kalamazoo MI, and Ann(Steve) Ronneberg of Naperville, IL. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren: Benson(Elise) Jahnke, Jordan(Katie Swanson) Jahnke, Keegan(Meghan) Jahnke, Aislin(Peter) Zwierzynski, James Brady III, Jake Ronneberg and Sam Ronneberg; and 8 great-grandchildren: Susannah and Arthur Jahnke, Willow and Violet Jahnke, Nora and Logan Jahnke, and Piper and Elliot Zwierzynski.
She was followed in death by her husband on July 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and her siblings: Eva Rasmussen, Lyle Sward, Nila Webb and Alvin Sward.
A combined Mass of Christian Burial for both Gerald and Ardean will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield with Father Daniel Thelen officiating. Music will be provided by Cindy Penker and the St. John's Funeral Choir. Military Rites for Gerald following Mass will be provided by the American Legion Post 54. A visitation will be held on Monday at church from 9am until service time. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Marshfield or the Alzheimer's Association.
