Obituary

Appy C. Spindler, 93, Rozellville, died on Thursday evening, December 1, 201, surrounded by her family at the House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Rozellville. Rev. Eric Berns will officiate and music will be provided by St. Andrews Folk Choir. Burial will take place in St. Andrews Cemetery and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at St. Andrews Catholic Church. St. Andrews Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be held on Monday at 4:30 pm at the funeral home. Apollonia was born on May 7, 1918 in Rozellville, the daughter of George and Mary (Illig) Oppman, Sr. She graduated from St. Andrews Parochial School in Rozellville and went on to attend night school in Marshfield. On September 13, 1937 she was united in marriage to Ed Spindler at St. Andrews Catholic Church. On November 1, 1945, Appy and her husband Ed bought a store, tavern and feed mill from her parents. In February of 1961 they sold the feed mill to their son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Carol and in July of 1978 sold the store and tavern to their son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Elaine. She continued to reside in an apartment above the store until the present time. In her younger years she enjoyed league bowling, going on bowling trips with her friends, and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for being the life of the party and bringing her famous chip dip and box of mints along to share with everyone. She also played a good game of sheepshead and/or cribbage with her sisters. She is survived by her children, Jerry (Carol) Spindler, Ruth (Ray) Lang, and Butch (Rae) Spindler, and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Spindler, all of Rozellville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jay (Barb) Spindler, Stacey (Greg) Lyons, Krisann (Mark) Saindon, Sue (Bob) Haupt, Don (Wendy) Spindler, Mary (Mark) Repking, Tom (Sharon) Spindler, Greg (Brenda) Spindler, Donna (Kevin) Gilbertson, Julie (Jeff) Stueber, Bobby (Linda) Lang, Joann (Steve Bangart) Lang, Darin Spindler, Nate (Gwen) Spindler, and Haley Spindler, and twenty four great grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters, Kay Siemers and Nancy Heckel and a sister-in-law, Marge Oppman, all of Marshfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, on December 29, 1974, a son, Dale on October 18, 1990, sisters, Ruth Hartle, Marian Britten, and Rosie Glitz and a brother, George Oppman, Jr. In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial at a later date.
