Annette E. Raschke, 88, of Marshfield died peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Stoney River Assisted Living in Marshfield, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, with her grandsons as pallbearers, Stephen, Blair and Andrew Raschke, Josh and Sam Klumb and Alexander Praxel.
Visitations will be from 4-8pm Monday at Rembs Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30am until service time. There will be a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service at 4pm Monday, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30pm Monday, both at Rembs Funeral Home.
Annette was born on November 24, 1927 in Stratford to Edward and Stella (Zaleski) Knoll Sr. She was united in marriage to Ernest F. Raschke on June 16, 1952 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford. After their marriage they lived in Baraboo for a year before returning to Marshfield. Ernie sadly passed away on May 1, 2004 after 52 years of wonderful times together, leaving a strong sense of family, faith and service engrained in their loving family and community.
The eldest of 10 children, Annette attended grade school in McArthur School in Little Rose and high school in Stratford. She received a teaching certificate at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1945, and later went back to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Education, which she completed in 1972 at Stevens Point. Annette completed this great accomplishment while working full time and raising five children.
Her teaching career started in a one room school house in Marathon County. She taught at two other schools before finishing her career at St. John's Parochial School in Marshfield, where she taught for 32 years.
Annette was a member of the Lady Knights of Columbus, St. John's PCCW and the American Legion Auxiliary of Marshfield. She enjoyed family, especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel, spend time at the cottage, and gardening. She lived a very spiritual life. Her strong faith was exhibited by saying the rosary every day of her life.
She is survived by her five children, Stephen (Donna) Raschke of Gloucester, VA, Rita (Larry) Klumb of Marshfield, Kathy (Ted) Praxel of Marshfield, Peter (Jeanette le Noir) Raschke of Wausau and Joan Raschke of Marshfield; 8 grandchildren, Summer (Kevin) Barnes, Stephen (Kristy) Raschke, Jr, Josh (Deanna) Klumb, Sam (Holly) Klumb, Alexander Praxel, Blair Raschke, Andrew Raschke and Elise Raschke; 7 great grandchildren, Teagan and Cassidy Barnes; Jonathan, Carson and Kedren Klumb; Hailey and Tylan Klumb.
She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Anne Knoll of Marshfield, Susie (John) Burish of Marathon, Arlene (Wally) Stencil of Edgar, Pat (Floyd) Hamus of Marshfield, Benny (Rhonda) Knoll of Stratford and Allie (Diane) Knoll of Stratford; sisters-in-law Cathy Knoll of Stratford and Ellen Raschke of Milwaukee along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie, Clem and Jerry Knoll; grandson Sean Raschke; brothers-in-law Joseph, Robert, Rev. Albert, Rev. Bernard Raschke; and Ervin Stencil; and sisters-in-law Mary Knoll and Luddy Raschke.
