Anna M. Schnabel, 97, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Fitchburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time on Monday. Rev. David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Anna was born on June 23, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Lillian (Nieman) Ploog. She was united in marriage to Verlyn A. Schnabel on December 14, 1941 in Winona, MN and they were married for 70 years until he died on January 4, 2012.
Anna started working at the age of 14 as a live-in maid. After her marriage to Verlyn, they farmed in Neilsville until moving to Marshfield in 1955 to provide a better education for their daughter. Anna then found work along with her husband at the Roddis Manufacturing Co. (later Weyerhauser) in Marshfield for 30 years, retiring in 1986.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Bill) Myrant-Wangall of Fitchburg and 2 grandsons, Kevin (Lolly) Myrant of Madison and Keith Myrant of Marshfield, and 4 great-grandchildren: Samantha & Sabrina Myrant of Madison, and Justin & Jill Myrant of California. She is further survived by a sister, Wilma Boulieu and a brother, Ervin (Jan) Ploog, all of Marshfield, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings, Fred, Roy, Ralph, Betty, Virgil, Harry and Elmer Ploog.
