Obituary

Alice Hopperdietzel, age 92, passed away at Wells Nature View in Marshfield on June 5, 2015, under the loving care of the Wells caregivers and Ministry Home Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford, with Rev. Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will take place in Abbotsford City Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Alice was born on April 23, 1923 in Ogema, Wisconsin to Matthias and Edith (LeClaire) Kramer. Upon the death of her father, the family moved to Abbotsford where Alice spent the majority of her life. She graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1940. On September 12, 1942 she married Walt Hopperdietzel. Walt passed away December 14, 1985. Alice and Walt were active in community affairs. As owners of Walt's Skogmo, Abbotsford, they were involved with the Abbotsford Christmas parade and participated in promotional activities such as Crazy Days and the bed races. Alice was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church where she volunteered much of her time. She was a caring person who worked with other ladies from the church in preparing meals for church events. She visited residents in the local nursing home and was proud of the garbage bags full of pull tabs she collected for the Ronald McDonald House. She was an avid bowler for many years. One of her favorite hobbies was feeding the birds – something she has passed on to her children. She is survived by 4 children, Mary Lu (David) Vogen, John (Joyce) Hopperdietzel, Paul (Joan) Hopperdietzel, Joel (Suzanne) Hopperdietzel, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy "Bitsy" Ewan and Rosalind "Rosie" Kramer. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and 3 brothers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Wells Nature View who cared for Alice the past 4 years. Memorials may be designated in Alice's name to Ronald McDonald House or St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
