Alfred “Alfie” Hoefs, 78, Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at the Country Aire Banquet Center from 1-4pm on Thursday June 4th.

Alfie was born on April 30, 1948 in Marshfield to Charles and Alma (Reichert) Hoefs. He graduated from Stratford High School. He was united in marriage to Tina Laessig on December 8, 1990.

Alfie was a hardworking dairy farmer whose life revolved around family and friends. A true outdoorsman, he could often be found making firewood, making maple syrup, backhoeing and digging, or buying machinery at auctions. Known as quite the talker, Alfie never met a stranger that he couldn’t talk to and loved gathering with family and friends for breakfasts. Sunday mornings often included listening to the Sunday Polka Jamboree. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every opportunity to be involved in their lives, especially when it meant giving tractor rides. Alfie also took pride in caring for his lilac and snowball bushes.

He is survived by his wife, Tina, sons, Joey (Sara) Hoefs, Randy (Mia) Hoefs, Brian (Jasmine) Hoefs, and Tim, and grandchildren, Zoey, Zara, Norah, Clayton, Creed, Morgan, and Quinn.

He is further survived by his sisters, Ione (Wilmer) Landwehr of Stratford and Diane (Leon) Lueddecke of Unity, and sister in law, Lorraine Hoefs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Hoefs, sisters, Ruth Correll and Edna Landwehr, brother in law, Ivan Landwehr, and nephews, John Jr. and Donald Hoefs.
