Obituary

Alene M. Bartz, 90, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Marshfield Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville, with Rev. Jordan Scott officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 am until service time at Grace Lutheran Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Alene was born on August 24, 1922 in the Town of Lincoln, Wood County, to Clifford and Caroline (Peterson) Ziegahn. She married Marvin F. Bartz on August 23, 1941 in Marshfield. They began their married life on the Bartz family farm and celebrated 58 years together. Before her marriage Alene worked for Normington's Laundry. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as an aide in the pediatric Department and also at the Marshfield Care Center. After an early retirement she enjoyed working part time as a home health care aide. With her husband by her side, she served on the Grace Lutheran Church board and was a Sunday school teacher. Spending time with her family and fishing with her husband meant so much to her. The Bartz home always welcomed family and friends and the smell of Alene's wonderful cooking and baking was enjoyed by all. Her biggest pastime was in the kitchen. Her canning was also a passion. She is survived by her loving son, Roger of Marshfield and granddaughter, Candis Bartz of Florida. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Stuhr of Marshfield and Diane (Don) Berger of Washington and a sister-in-law, Dawn Ziegahn of Marshfield. She is further survived by a special friend Mary Berkoltz and puppy Diamond. Alene is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, a son Ronald in infancy and brothers, Verlyn "Bill" Ziegahn and Robert "Bob" Ziegahn and a brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Stuhr. The family wishes to thank the Marshfield Care Center. God bless you mother. No language can express the beauty and the heroism and majesty of a mother's love. "She shall be praised."
