Albert M. Kinkella, MD, 99 of Marshfield died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Eric Berns officiating. Cindy Penker will provide the music for the service. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Gladstone, MI. Albert was born on May 12, 1916 in Gladstone, MI to Fred and Barbara (Frankovich) Kinkella. He graduated from Gladstone High School in 1933. After high school, he worked in a plywood company for five years. He then attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo from 1938 thru 1941, majoring in teaching. 1942 he joined the United States Navy with most of his service time spent as a NCO in the Medics Aviation Medicine aboard a "Baby Flat-top", a jeep carrier on anti-submarine patrol in the North Atlantic. He also spent time in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba attached to the Naval Air Station. Albert finished pre-med requirements at Marquette University in 1946. Graduated from University of Michigan Medical School in 1951 and interned at Blodgett Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. His residency in Otolaryngology was at Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, University of Illinois, Chicago from 1953-1956. Albert joined the Marshfield Clinic in 1957, left in 1960 to establish private ENT practice in Springfield, IL, but later rejoined the Marshfield Clinic in 1964, retiring in 1986. He is survived by a sister Josephine Kinkella of Escanaba, MI and nieces and nephews in Washington State. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
