Obituary

Albert Bauer was born July 8, 1925 in Loyal WI to Edwin and Clara (Litka) Bauer. He attended St. Anthony's school in Loyal. In 1936 the family moved to Bakerville where he continued his education through the 8th grade at St Mary's. Albert married Alice R. Rottscheit on May 9, 1945 at. St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. From 1943 to 1946 he drove a milk truck while farming 40 acres he rented. In 1947 he purchased an 80-acre farm in Nasonville and also started a trucking business of hauling cattle. In 1951 he purchased a 2nd 80-acre farm next to the original farm. October 1953, at age 27 Albert became ill with rheumatic fever, and spent 6 weeks in the hospital. Albert and Alice were blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors that did their crops and milking during his illness that summer. At that time, they sold their cattle and rented out their land. April 1955 they sold both farms and purchased an A&W Drive-In, in Jefferson Iowa with his brother Gerald. April 1965 the Drive-In was sold, and Albert purchased the A&W in Marshfield. August 1973 he sold the A&W and purchased 40 acres south of Marshfield as a hobby farm and raised beefalo. In 1978 they sold the hobby farm to the city. In 1981 due to mortgage default, Albert repossessed the A&W. April 1982 Albert and his son Keith formed a partnership, and renamed it Bauer's Drive-In. April of 1984 Albert became manager of the KC Hall and leased his half to Keith. In 1988 he purchased the Drive-In in Spencer, and leased it to his son Arnie, and they named it Bauer's II. In 1989 Albert sold the Drive-In to Arnie. October 1992, Albert and Keith sold the Bauer's Drive-In located in Marshfield to Hardees. Albert continued as manager of the KC Hall for a total of 16 years until he retired in 2000. He then worked part time for V&H on both the North and South end of town until full retirement at age 77. They sold their home in January 2008 and moved to the Wildwood Regency Apartments, where they enjoyed all the new friends they met. In retirement, Albert continued to volunteer at the KC Hall and playing cards with family and friends. Albert resided at the Atrium Care Center for the past two years.
