Obituary

Alan J. "Oop" Esser, 81, Marshfield, died on Saturday, August 22, 2015 with his loving wife and family at his side at Atrium Post Acute Care of Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August, 27, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield with Rev. Eric Berns and Rev. Peter Raj officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Travis, Josh, Cody, Coltin, Tyler and Tim Esser. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:00 am on Thursday until service time at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Alan was born on January 10, 1934 in the Town of Rock, Wood County, to John and Clara (David) Esser. He attended Oak Leaf Country School, Sacred Heart Parochial School, Purdy Junior High and Marshfield Senior High School. He was very proud of his 8 years in the Naval Reserves serving from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1959. He was united in marriage to Marie V. Bornbach on August 4, 1954 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville and they were married for 61 years. Alan "Oop" worked at Salzwedel farms, Stock-Gro, Rollohome and F.F. Mengel Company before becoming employed for the Marshfield Street Department in 1955. He retired in 1994 after working for the city of Marshfield for 40 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, and the Catholic Knights. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, the Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Marie and their 7 sons, Jerry (Sally) Esser, Mike (Mary) Esser, Tom (Rose) Esser, Pat (Vicki) Esser, all of Marshfield, David (Connie) Esser of Youngsville, LA, Danny (Theresa) Esser and Paul (Bev) Esser, all of Marshfield. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Travis (Sharon) Esser and their sons, Sawyer and Carson; Kristi (Denny) Jaenke and their son, Bennett; Josh Esser, Tanya Esser, Tyler Esser, Tiffany (Josh) Toltzman, Lacey (Tyler) Schwanebeck, Tori Esser, Shannon (Neil) Huval and their daughter, Isabella; Amber (Anthony) Rogers, Cody Esser, Coltin Esser and Tim Esser. He is further survived by a sister, Rachel B. Grosbier of Marshfield. He was predeceased by his parents and a granddaughter, Manda Rae Esser.
