Victor A. Biechler, 92 of Marshfield died on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Golden Living Center Three Oaks in Marshfield.
Funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, April 13, 2012 at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield with Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.
Visitations will be from 9:30am Friday until time of the service at Rembs Funeral Home. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 10:15am Friday and an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Memorial service at 10:30am Friday both at the funeral home.
Victor was born to Louis and Frances (Thums) Biechler on February 12, 1920. At their home on West Cleveland Street in Marshfield, the doctor that attended him came in a horse and sleigh because of the bad snow storm. He attended St. John’s School for ten years and in his junior year he attended McKinley High School. During this year, he left school to join the CCC’s (Civilian Conservation Corp) for two years. Victor joined the Wisconsin National Guards and was federalized on October 15, 1940 and was stationed at Camp Livingston, LA.
Victor married Wilma Marie Mitten of Marshfield on February 15, 1941 in Pineville, LA and celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on February 15, 2012. They lived in Kingsville, LA until Victor’s honorable discharge from the guards on October 17, 1941. They moved back to Marshfield then in 1942 moved to Detroit, MI where he worked for Packard Motor Co. After about six months, they moved back to Marshfield where they lived since.
On July 21, 1944, Victor was drafted into the United States Army and served in the European Theater. He was honorably discharged on November 7, 1945.
He worked for the railway express and in 1950 he started at Felker Bros. Mfg. until his retirement in March 1984.
Victor belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge # 665, American Legion Post #54, Boiler Makers Union and the Lionel Model Train Club.
Victor was a model railroader, avid golfer until his sight failed him, coin collector, liked plants, flowers, and birds. He also enjoyed going to the casino, the computer and loved his family and home.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma, daughter Judith (Ralph) Jensen of St. Louis, MO, son Victor (Margaret) Biechler of Appleton; grandchildren, Diane Jensen, Jennifer (Dan) Nelson, Vicki (Gary) Sanguinett, Michael (Dawn) Biechler, great grandchildren, Damian and Dane Nelson, Dylan and Brandon Biechler, Sofia and Catarina Sanguinett and one step great granddaughter Brittney Gilbert. He is further survived by a sister, Audrey George of Madison and his aunt Isabelle Thums of Marshfield along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Connors and two brothers Harold and Norbert Biechler.
