Vincent Anton Van de Loo, 93, a long time Marshfield resident passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Three Oaks, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. James Logan officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 10:30 am until service time at Our Lady of Peace Church. A combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held on Tuesday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
Vincent was born on January 22, 1919 in the Township of Day (Rozellville) Marathon County, to Anton and Anna (Rammer) Van de Loo. He worked on the family farm there until after World War II when he worked in Milwaukee for a short time. He then returned to Marshfield and began working in maintenance at Felker Brothers Manufacturing from 1947 until his retirement.
He married Frances Clara Werner on July 2, 1948 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville. Vincent enjoyed doing puzzles, square dancing, playing cards, camping, and traveling across the United States. After Frances became ill, Vincent cared for his wife until her death in 2003.
Vincent was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. He also was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council #1799 and was named Knight of the Year in 1996. Vincent and Frances were charter members of the Marshlanders Good Sam Camping Club.
Survivors include two sons, Alan (Barb) Van de Loo, Mazomanie; and Glen (Alexandra) Van de Loo, Northbrook, IL; and four daughters, Karen (David) McGivern, Marshfield; June (Cliff) Young, Oro Valley, AZ; Linda (Brett) Montgomery, Phoenix, AZ; and Rita (Jean Luc) Moreau, Algonquin, IL. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Sean, Adam, Max, Anthony, Jessica, and Thomas Van de Loo, Autumn Kogovsek, Maureen and Seth Young, and Ciara and Jared Montgomery; two great grandchildren, Jade and Declan Kogovsek. He is further survived by a brother, Lawrence Sylvester (Marian) Van de Loo, Marshfield.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Frances, twin daughters, Rose Mary and Ruth Lucy in infancy, five sisters, Gertrude (Otto) Kraus, Mary Sophie Van de Loo, Florence (George) Drexler, Rose (Ray) Wenzel, Hilda (Ray) Spindler, and a brother, Alois.
In lieu of flowers the family will designate a memorial at a later date.
