Charles L. “Bud” Buechel, 87, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
A private memorial service will be held at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Pastor Rebekah Tarras officiating and military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.
Charles was born on November 1, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Edwin and Mary (Yates) Buechel.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserves for six years and then the Army National Guard until his retirement. He also had been self employed as a welder.
He married Helen Mott in 1946 and after fifty years of marriage she died in July of 1996. He later married Jane Sauter Reckner on May 4, 1998.
Bud is survived by his wife, Jane and his children, Jeannie (Woody) DeSwarte of Alexandria, VA, Sherri (Guy) Skorganc of New Berlin, WI, Charles “Skip”(Linda) Buechel of St. Francis, WI, Connie (Jeff) Menger of Greenfield, WI, Sandy (Mike) Wenninger of Hartford, WI, and Deb (Tom) Breckenfelder of Greenfield, WI. He is also survived by step children, Pam (Ray) Melander of Merrill, Jeff (Linda) Reckner of Stratford, and Cindy (Chuck) Pescinski of Spencer. He is further survived by twenty four grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and two great grandchildren expected this year.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, a brother, a sister and a great grandson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in his name to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
