Everett H. Arndt, 87 of Marshfield died on Monday evening, November 7, 2011 at the House of The Dove. He was under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice services of Marshfield.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30am Friday, November 11, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Don Meuret officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
Visitations will be on Thursday from 4-8pm at the Rembs Funeral Home and again on Friday beginning at 10:30am at the Church until time of the services. There will be a combined rosary service at 6:30pm Thursday at the funeral home by the Parish and Knights of Columbus.
Everett was born in the Town of Marshfield to Herman and Amanda (Tews) Arndt on July 21, 1924
He graduated from Webster Grade School and attended Marshfield Senior High School until entering the United States Army in 1943. Everett received his basic training at Fr. Bragg, NC and was sent to England in January of 1944. He served with the 44th Field Artillery Division of the 4th Infantry through the European Campaign from D-Day until July 1945, receiving 5 battle stars.
After his honorable discharge in November 1945, he was employed at Marshfield Milling Co. until 1950. He then worked as a bottling department foreman for Clover Cream Dairy, retiring as a licensed cheese maker from Beatrice Foods in 1983. He also worked part time for several years at V & H Ford and Normington’s, Inc after his retirement.
Everett was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Michels on July 24, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July.
Everett served on the Parish Council of both Sacred Heart and Corpus Christi Parishes for several years. He is a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the VFW Post 1866 of Marshfield.
He enjoyed spending time with family at the lakes in northern Wisconsin, fishing, sports, and playing cards.
Everett is lovingly survived by his wife Evelyn, two sons, Stephan (Sian) Arndt of LaJolla, CA, Michael (Anita) Arndt of Marshfield, one daughter, Kristin (Gene) Edwards of Lakewood, CO; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Bruce) Fredrick of Marshfield, Elizabeth (Michael) Mitchell of Bloomer, Sarah Heiting of Lakewood, CO, Jason Heiting of Ventura,CA, Colin Arndt of Blue Mounds and Derek Arndt of St. Paul, MN; three great grandchildren Jackson and Parker Mitchell and Evelyn Fredrick plus several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Ermine Woltmann and a brother Martin Arndt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital and the House of The Dove for their loving care.
